A new, minimally invasive procedure for vision correction is here!!
The New LENTICULE application with the FEMTO Z8 is called CLEAR.
Corneal Lenticule extraction (CLEAR) is considered as the next generation of lenticule applications. The refractive correction is done by a single laser: the Ziemer FEMTO Z8 laser. CLEAR is rapidly becoming popular among patients all over the world because of its numerous advantages over any other type of refractive eye surgery and its excellent success rate.
How is CLEAR Performed?
With both surgeries having laser-guided technology in common, the actual methods are quite different.
In LASIK, a corneal flap is created using a microkeratome blade or a femtosecond laser, which is then opened. An excimer laser is applied to alter the cornea’s curve. The flap is placed back once the process is complete.
However, in CLEAR, no corneal flap is created. The femtosecond laser cuts a small disc-shaped piece of tissue (Lenticule) within the cornea. The surgeon then extracts the Lenticule through a small incision in the surface of the cornea. The upper layer of the cornea remain unaffected during the CLEAR procedure The removal of the Lenticule causes the shape of the cornea to change, which corrects your vision.
CLEAR Advantage
The biggest advantage many see with CLEAR compared to LASIK is the lack of a flap. By decreasing the incision size almost down to 2 mm for lenticule removal, several problems associated with the flap are taken care of. CLEAR has no pain, or only for a short period of time, and there are no problems with flap dislocation.

LASIK vs. CLEAR Refractive Eye Surgery
The main difference between LASIK and CLEAR procedure is, CLEAR does not use an Excimer laser to remove the corneal tissue. The Femto Laser technology is 10 times gentler than an Excimer laser which reduces the chances of inflammation.
If proper post-operative care is taken, all the drops prescribed by your ophthalmologist are used regularly, the total recovery will not take more than a week before you will be ready to go following your normal lifestyle.
LASIK Conventional Method | CLEAR Revolutionary Method |
Uses an excimer and femtosecond laser | Uses only a femtosecond laser |
Risk of dry eye symptoms | Less risk of dry eye symptoms |
Requires postoperative restrictions | Slightly faster recovery than LASIK |
Requires a corneal flap | Does not require a corneal flap. It’s a Flapless procedure |
