| CORNEAL TOPOGRAPHY
Corneal topography is a
method of examining the corneal curvature assisted by computer
analysis. A topography machine projects a series of illuminated
rings onto the corneal surface, after which a photographic
image is taken and is analysed by the computer; this image
is generated through a special software.
The digital image
is colour-coded (the steeper areas are represented by warm
colours such as red, while the relatively flatter areas are
in cooler colours such as blue – green) to show the
curvature of the cornea in different areas, just like an
aerial view of a landscape. It is the equivalent of taking
a fingerprint. The information obtained from a Topograph
is very useful and essential in planning the treatment for
LASIK.
Doctor Eye Institute has been one of the first in India to
implement corneal topography machine to provide the best of
the services in total eye care to all its patients. |
