Choices of IOLs at Doctor Eye Institute

Doctor Eye Institute offers a wide range of intra ocular lenses ( IOLs) that can be implanted after cataract surgery. All the IOLs used are either US FDA approved or Europe CE marked.

Choices of IOLs that are available at Doctor Eye Institute include

1. Monofocal IOLs :

They are commonly used in the cataract procedures and are easy for your eye to adapt too. Theses are designed to provide good vision at one distance - usually for distance. Patients usually need reading glasses after surgery for close activites such as reading , craft or computer work.

2. Bifocal / Multifocal IOLs :

These are designed to provide good vision for distance and near. People usually do not need glasses for distance & near activities after cataract surgery.

Compared to Monofocal IOLs these can reduce dependence on glasses for activities like reading, viewing text on computer screen or watching movie. However about 5% of patients complain of haloes after implantation of these IOLs.

Types Of Monofocal IOL:
  • Non-Foldable IOLs
    • One Piece (INDIAN)
    • One Piece (IMPORTED)
  • Foldable IOLs
    • Acrylic IOL
    • Silicone IOL

These Wavefront-designed IOL with claims approved by the FDA for reduced spherical aberration, improved functional vision and improved performance in a night-driving simulator study.

Multifocal IOL

These lens are designed to provide quality vision both at distance & upto close.

They provide three distances near, intermediate & distance. This explains that the dependency of the glasses reduces or goes away for any propose for the patient.

The Multifocal IOL is the only full-surface aspheric IOL. It enables patients to function comfortably without glasses at near, intermediate, and far distances and provides superior functional near vision as demonstrated by reading speed comparisons.

Features:
  • Aspheric anterior surface corrects spherical aberration to essentially zero.
  • Fully diffractive posterior surface for complete pupil independence.
  • Proprietary non-apodized optic and clear hydrophobic acrylic for outstanding image quality.

For many who wear glasses or contact lenses the multifocal lens could mean independence from these. The multifocal lens not only treats presbyopia and cataracts, but it also turns back the clock to restore much of your ability to see up close, and at distance, in both bright light and low light situations.

Sharper Distance

The Multifocal IOL can provide sharp distance vision in all light conditions for all lifestyles. Three distinct distance-dominant zones provide good distance vision in bright, intermediate, and low light conditions.

Better intermediate

The Multifocal IOL can provide critical intermediate vision in all light conditions for all lifestyles. Using 100% of available light, the Mutifocal IOL provides proper light distribution into the intermediate range.

Versatile Near

The Multifocal IOL can provide crisp near vision in all light conditions for all lifestyles
